Treat Facebook Like Coffee.
The other day I was racking my brain wondering why so many people use Facebook so poorly and it hit me...
We don’t treat Facebook like coffee. Think about it...
When you are at coffee with a friend, do you give a hard sales pitch about your business?
When you are at coffee with a friend, do you straight up ask or beg for a referral?
When you are at coffee with a friend, do you talk about your family?
When you are at coffee with a friend, do you tell funny stories?
What if you started treating Facebook like it was coffee with a friend?
And it is....it’s just with hundreds of friends at a time, instead of one.
Go back through your last 3 months of posts and genuinely ask yourself...would I say or talk about this if I was having coffee, lunch, tea, etc. with a friend? I would be willing to bet the answer would be no.
Do you think it would benefit your current and future clients to know some of those stories? Do you think it would benefit your current and future clients to know more of your personality? To know more about your passions? To know more about why you genuienly love your job so much?
The answer is YES!
Stop selling and start sharing.
The reason we can have so much fun at coffee/lunch with a friend is because there are no hidden agendas. Just genuine conversation. Trust has already been established as well...so neither of you are trying to jump through hoops to impress the other.
The key to selling is answering one questions...Can I trust you?
So let’s try this...look at your calendar...when is your next sales appointment? Try something a little different. Go in there looking to create value for that person. Go in there knowing all you have to do is convince them of one thing. TRUST. The game will change for you.
Here’s how do you do it...your goal should be to find several commonalities and see how deep you can go. The deeper we go on a common interest, the quicker the walls come down.
And here’s the cool part. When we stop selling and start sharing, we establish relationships with EVERYONE we meet. Which means....our REFERRAL business grows on a massive level!
Did you know...some of your greatest referral partners will never be customers.
What will you say today on Facebook? Would you say it at coffee?
I’d love to hear your testimonies...if this has worked for you, please share. Or if you try it next week and you get the sell, please share. I want this community to love to celebrate the successes of one another. And if this impacted you, please share. Have an awesome day!
