Do You Struggle With Content?

Content is something we all struggle with because we don't think we're interesting. We don't think we have a whole lot to say and we get stuck.

I want to give you a simple tip for getting unstuck, but let me tell you a story first. Do you guys remember in HS English class your teacher would say, "Hey, here are the three books we're reading this semester" and you would have to read them. You'd take quizzes, you'd take tests, you write a paper, all that good stuff.

Well, I never read the books. I would always go to Barnes & Noble and pick up the cliff notes of the book. Do you remember Cliff Notes? They were incredible! They would give you the overarching theme of different chapters. It would give you the “need to know” information.

Well that always screwed me up in high school because the teacher would ask detailed things to be able to know who read and who (me) didn’t.

But in life, when it comes to creating content, that's not the case. In my office, I have a big bookshelf. Full of tons of great book! When I am struggling with content, I go over to my bookshelf and I grab a book, and I simply flip through and I can identify something that I can speak to.

Here's the beauty of what this does for you. Most of your friends are going to be like me in HS. They love to buy the book, they think they’ll read it, but they probably won’t. I would much rather listen to someone I trust talk about a book for three to five minutes and give me a couple nuggets to go and think about.

Then, tell me what your call to action is so I can leverage that to improve and better my life.

You see, there's really no such thing as a brand new idea anymore. Everything's been created, so if you keep racking your brain to try and create something “brand new,” you’ll get frustrated a lot and find yourself struggling for content.

Don’t be afraid to use “old ideas” with your “new” spin on it! It’s brilliant and it works!

Leverage the power of this for your business. People will begin to see you as a thought leader. People will begin to see you as an influencer. People will begin to see you as the person they want to rub shoulders with, which will ultimately position you as the expert and help you sell more of whatever you’re selling!

Stop overthinking your content. Be resourceful. Look at what’s around you. 90% of your friends haven’t read any of the books you have…it’s all brand new to them. Happy Video’ing! :)
