Your Highlight “Reals” Suck
Face it...your highlight reels suck.
Why?
Because all they do is create a disconnect between you and your audience.
I work mainly with Realtors and Loan Officers...and in 2019, it’s now assumed that you’re “good” at your job. That should be a given.
So, if you want to be set apart, you must offer something that the others don’t...
The REAL you.
Stop it with the highlight reels, start documenting the journey.
With the advancement of social media, it’s too easy now to connect to people.
You can watch Kevin Hart walk his dog in his neighborhood and talk on his Insta-stories.
You can watch movie stars go live from a movie set.
Pro athletes are doing videos in the locker room during celebrations.
It’s too easy for us to see the behind the scenes of just about anyone we want...
ACCEPT FOR YOU.
I get it...you like showcasing your closing and beautiful houses...
But let me ask you a question...
What did you do in between those two things?
Document it!
Give people insight into your life.
Give them insight into your family.
Give them insight into what you like to do for a fun.
Teach leadership.
Talk about movies.
Explain how your organic banana bread is made.
Be a real human being.
To do this on a much higher level...start doing these three things...
#1 - Remember that it’s not about you.
This thought process is why most Realtors and LOs get it wrong on social media...
You post what you like instead of what “they” want.
Who is “they”?
”They” is who you want to work with.
What do they want? What do they need? What do they like? What do they struggle with?
If you aren’t answering those questions and then creating content from the answers...you’re getting it wrong.
When this starts making sense for you and your business, the engagement you receive will go through the roof!
#2 - The one with the most content wins.
Gary V says...
”Content is the price of entry to relevance.”
Pay attention to what Gary V does...
He keynotes all the time. He’s around cool people all the time.
Yet, so much of his content is “behind the scenes.”
It’s him in the backseat of his car.
It’s him walking the halls of his office or sitting at his desk.
He is constantly creating content and so much of it helps us relate to him because it’s made on his phone and not over produced.
Hear me when I say this...
YOU ARE NO LONGER JUST A REALTOR OR LOAN OFFICER. ..
You are a CONTENT CREATOR!
In this moment you’re thinking...what the heck am I going to talk about?
You have so much...
Real estate videos
- Open houses.
- Tours.
- Industry interviews.
- How to house repair tips.
- MLS meetings.
- Closings.
- Negotiations.
- And so many more...
Teach something.
- Leadership.
- Spiritual.
- How to’s.
- Parenting.
- Crafting.
- Sports.
- TV & Movies.
- Opinions.
- Your passions.
Tell your story.
I could keep going, but I’m going to spare you...Haha. It’s unlimited.
And don’t worry about perfect, go for personal.
You be you.
#3 - Get out of your head.
Let me go ahead and tell you exactly what will happen when you stat doing #2...
Every fear in the world will show up.
- What someone will think.
- Will someone care?
- I look terrible.
- I sound bad.
- Why did I just talk about that?
- What is my hair doing?
- Why is my lip doing that?
- I’m so glad that’s over.
- What in the world will I talk about next time?
- What if I mess up?
- What if I say “um” too many times?
- What if I forget something?
The list could go on and on.
Here is how to combat these fears...
- Believe the value of video is greater than your fear of doing them.
- Stop comparing yourself to others doing it.
- Establish accountability.
When these three things happen, the game will change for you.
Let me finish with giving you the biggest key of them all...
Start and then be patient. Keep going. I promise...it will go well for you.
If I can help you in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
