“Don’t lose heart. Don’t lose hope. Don’t lose faith. Don’t lose patience."
Life at times has been a struggle. Owning a business is hard. Having a strong marriage is hard. Being a parent to toddlers is hard.
Over the years, I’ve realized a very painful yet profound truth about myself.
In many areas of my life, I’ve either quit when it got too hard or settled for “good enough."
I did it with HS sports. I did it in college. I did it as a pastor. I’ve done it as a husband and father. And I’ve done it as a business owner.
And here’s what I’ve learned is my downfall. I put too much pressure on myself and I let my self-worth be dictated by the outcome. One negative customer, one bad day at home, one poor performance, and I’m ready to give up on myself.
But God doesn’t need my outcome. God wants my input. When I put the work in, He will take care of the rest.
It's time to call ourselves to GREATER! I’m not going to be a quitter. I’m not going to settle for being good enough. Because that’s not who God is. That is not what Jesus died for.
I was put on earth to be the best! I was put on earth to strive for greatness. And that’s what I’m doing. Because when I don’t quit, God gets the glory!
It takes heart, hope, faith, and patience to see something to completion. And when you feel one of those fleeing, grab ahold of the others that much harder.
And when I’m failing or succeeding…for me it’s come down to prayer. When I’m struggling personally, I can always notice that I’m going through the motions of loving Jesus, but not actually spending time with Him. But when I’m succeeding, it’s the opposite, Jesus is a constant in my day-to-day activities.
Prayer is THE ANSWER. Circle it. Commit to it. And fight for it. Your family, your life, your career, your future is worth it.
