What Are You Holding Back?

If there is one thing keeping you between where you are and where you want to be, it's your story. As human beings, like it or not, we are products of our past. And there are good and bad things that stem from that.

For many, your past was not one you love to remember. You were taught how not to do things more often than you were shown how to do something correctly. For others, you are simply trying to live up to the example that was set for you.

Either way, we are faced with the same question...what are you holding back?

What "self-limiting belief" have you allowed into your head that is keeping you from moving to the next level?

Romans 12:1 says, "I plead with you to GIVE your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”

If you believe like I believe, we should be filled with joy, positivity, optimism, encouraging words, and dreams for the future. And when something negative does hit us (which is always going to happen), we are able to bounce back fairly quickly.

If that doesn't sound like you...something may be off. Something is holding you back. Maybe it's resentment, a struggle, a secret, a self-limiting belief, a scar from the past, negative words spoke over your life, or possibly even jealousy of someone else.

Though the reason may be different, the outcome is the same, we fall short.

In my opinion, if you want to achieve big things, you have to hand everything over to a much bigger God.

And here's how you do it...change your mindset. We all operate from one of two places...scarcity or abundance. Scarcity says that we have to fight for what's ours, the world is out there to take it away, or I'm not sure where my next deal is going to come from. When we find ourselves here, trusting God is tough. We put all the pressure on ourselves to make things happen. And we also get really selfish and take bad motives into every conversation we have.

But when we operate from a place of abundance, we know that there is more than enough to go around. Now, don't hear me wrong, this doesn't mean we don't work our butts off, it simply means we don't have to fall into the trap of becoming cutthroat to get the job done. And we don't have to spend our effort worrying constantly. Trust that with the right heart and the right effort, things will go well for you.

If you feel like you are holding back, here's a few questions to ask yourself.

  • What have I not let go from in my past?
  • Who am I jealous of?
  • What "self-limiting belief" do I have that I'm speaking over myself?

The answers to these questions will reveal the road you need to take to release those things and be ready and willing to give it all! You can do this. You are talented enough and you are called to greatness! Don't let the biggest roadblock to your success be you.

Stop holding back!
