Who Do You Act Better Than?
I love watching a horse race from the track. If you've never done it, it's exhilarating! The horse's strides sound like thunder pounding the dirt.
In horse racing it's interesting, you have horses that get out in front and stay there, then you have other horses who will hang back and when the moment is right, they push it into the next gear and come from behind to win.
A lot of us, if we aren't careful, can be like a horse who gets out in front and stays in front. The question is, who do you act better than? Who have you gotten out in front of?
We all have a natural bend to fit ourselves into the hierarchy of society. And when we do this, one day at a time we become more and more close-minded to learning from all different types of people. Why? Because we lose sight of everyone. When a horse jumps out in front, it can't see anything from the other horses...
it's running blind even though it can technically see.
Are you running blind? Have you stopped looking around? Do you think you've figured it out?
It's time to reconsider the race you think you're winning. Because if you winning means everyone else loses, your race sucks! Luckily for us, we are not race horses.
I'm so thankful that I have the ability to help other people win too. I have the ability to ask people questions that are ahead of me and behind me in life and business. I have the ability to listen. I have the ability to say, "Huh, maybe I'm not right..." It's awesome!
And there is so much peace that comes with knowing I can learn something from every breathing person on the planet.
If you are reading this, you may be realizing how lonely you've become. Stop. Reach out to someone. Go learn something from someone other than yourself. Give back. Get involved. Don't keep running your race that only you can win, it's not worth it in the end.
As human beings, we only have one life to live. And I choose to live this life encouraging others and bringing them along with me, rather than pretend to care, but actually seeing them as stepping stones. You are better. I am better. Let's be better.
