boomers vs video
Social media doesn't need more young people on it. There, I said it! There are plenty of us!
The wisdom, stories, and experiences in this world exist with all the Boomers.
I like to say it like this...."I don't need more homies."
I'm a 35-year-old man that is fighting for my marriage, fighting for my children and fighting to serve people in my business. I need advice, I need wisdom, I need to hear the stories of success and failure.
And my generation doesn't have those. We definitely have young people acting like they have it figured out, but they don't.
I'm determined to get boomers and anyone that feels like they are "too old" for social media on video! Your business, your family, your friends and all of us NEED you there.
This week alone I spoke to several business people that struggle with two things...
1. They don't feel they belong on social media and 2. They don't see the value in social media.
I talk to so many Boomers that feel like social media is impeding their ability to be relational, but it's not and here's why...
Social media is HIGHLY relational.
When used correctly, social media is like speaking with a bullhorn in front of your mouth. It doesn't replace what you used to do, it amplifies it. You can go to a coffee a day and be highly relational. I can do a live video on Facebook and it's like I had coffee with 1000 people.
Now, I'm not saying you use social media to replace what you were doing, but leverage it to increase your reach. Leverage it to make your voice louder.
Social media is a TOOL, not the answer.
When I come in and train companies on social media, sometimes the boss (which tends to be more seasoned), fears that their people will simply allow Facebook to make them lazy and stop doing the "harder" tasks that they know work.
But I come in and show them how to leverage Facebook as a tool. When a tool is used for its created task, it's extremely powerful.
This is going to require a mindset shift for you. You're going to have to change everything you thought was true about social media. If you can do it, you can be a powerful force online.
The learning curve isn't as steep as you think it is.
I promise you this...you can do this! I'm working with clients right now that are 60 and better, and they are kicking butt! Because this is like riding a bike, at first it's hard and might even be painful, but once it's learned, you always have it.
Think about the legacy you can leave for your family when there are series of videos of you telling stories, hosting interviews and adding value to others. It would be awesome!
Think about how much you'd love your business to grow, but it feels like all you see are young people running circles around you. STOP IT. Take back your deserved territory. Go play their game. You're better at it!
You will be better received than you could ever imagine.
You have people who wonder where you are. They wonder what you're doing. They are so curious. Which means the moment you get yourself out there, people will take notice and pay attention.
If you are a business owner or in a sales position, your business will instantly grow! I promise you that! And if you don't believe me, let's test it. Let me help you.
This week, I get the privilege of helping a long time mentor and now friend, launch a private Facebook group that people will pay $10/month to be a part of. He's been a counselor for over 30 years and is one of the smartest humans I've ever met in my life. Guess what? The world doesn't know who he is, but they are about to. And I can't wait to watch this group climb from 50 to 100, 100 to 300, 300 to 500 and then to 1000. Then he can stop busting his butt counseling 70 hours a week because he'll be making $10,000 a month just from his group.
This is not rocket science. It's simply leveraging a tool that you have the option of putting in your tool belt. You can do this. I promise. And I can help. Give it a shot. You'll be surprised, you might actually start to like it. :)
