“Embrace”

On Tuesday, my life changed forever. I was told something I never thought I would hear...”you are diabetic.”

It was horrifying. And the worst part, I realized I had done it to myself.

Those first 24 hours were rough...so many questions and so many moments to be frustrated and even mad at God for allowing this to happen.

This morning, I was watching one of my favorite pastors online and he was preaching out of Habakkuk. He was talking about waiting. Waiting on God to do something. Waiting on Him to show up even when you think He should have showed up already.

At the end of the message, he talked about how so many people when dealing with struggles talk about how they are just “enduring.” But enduring means that we are barely making it.

He challenged the congregation to change the word enduring for embracing.

Because when we embrace something, it means we have accepted it for what it is and have chosen to move forward.

This is my commitment to my wife, my kids, my family and my friends....I am not enduring. I’m better than that! My God is better than that! I’m embracing the fact that my life is going to be different. I’m embracing how different it has already become just in the last few days.

And I’m embracing this for the sake of the people I’m going to be able to help in the future!

We all have a choice. We can sit around and wallow in our self-pity, or we can take it in stride and believe that everything happens for a reason.

What are you enduring?

Where in your life have you maybe “mailed it in?” Or assumed that it’s never going to get better? FIGHT!

Fight for your future. Fight for your children. Fight against the diagnosis. Fight for your marriage. Fight. Fight. Fight. Refuse to quit.

Why? Not only because you deserve it. But when you realize that you have an audience watching...it changes everything. Whether you believe it or not, people are paying attention. More people care about your opinion and your outlook than you think.

And there are people out there that see you as a much stronger person than them...so if you can’t do it, how could they?

Take a deep breath, focus on today, and believe for the impossible!

Because I know this...the God of this universe can do anything...His next miracle might just be you.
