A Simple Change.

We over complete everything.

Let me say that differently…I over complicate everything!

I believe God created life to be so simple, yet we figured out a way to complicate it.

It started with Adam and Eve…they could eat from any tree in the garden, yet the one they chose to eat from was the ONLY ONE God said not to.

God told Abraham he was going to give him a son. That’s a pretty simple direction.

Yet, Abraham took it upon himself to sleep with one of his servants because he didn’t think God could come through on what He had promised.

Then there’s Samson…he was gifted with superhuman strength. The only instruction…never cut your hair. What happened soon after…his hair got cut.

You see, I believe we make God into this impossible to understand person in the sky that tries to make our lives more difficult…but I see Him as the opposite.

So, why does all this matter? And why am I committing an early Sunday morning to writing it?

Because my devotional this morning rocked my world. Thus I started writing. The devotional said…

“One small decision today could have a big impact on tomorrow.”

- Craig Groeschel

This quote is why I titled this blog, “A Simple Change.”

What story does God want you to tell 5 or 10 years from now?

What does God want you to want? Take a minute to jot down the answers to these questions.

Now, here’s what my devotional said…

Based on what you believe God wants you to want, what discipline do you need to start doing to head toward where God wants you to go?

See how simple that is?!

What discipline do you need to start establishing as habit today to get you to where God wants you in the future?

Do you know what my answer was?

That God wants me to be healthy…so I can be around for a long time for my wife, my kids, my family, my friends, and all those I have impacted and have yet to impact.

So my discipline that starts today…NO FRIED FOODS & NO DRIVE-THRUS. That is my start.

I’m not committing to losing 100 pounds tomorrow. I’m just committing to the straight forward discipline of not eating fried foods or frequenting places with a drive-true. (well, other than Chickfila) Just kidding.

What discipline will you commit to?

Don’t let tomorrow show up with something left undone that you could have done today.

Make a commitment. Not to something huge, but to something that will be significant over time!

“The secret of your success is determined by your daily agenda.”

- John Maxwell

I want to end with this…

YOU ARE WORTH IT! Please believe that.

Why do you deserve to be better tomorrow? Pick your discipline…

And make a simple change.

If I can help you in any way, please, please, please, don’t hesitate to ask.
