What Are You Holding On To?

Let's celebrate..png

Monkeys are quick, agile, elusive and usually smart.

But every once in a while…their greed gets the best of them.

It’s said that a hunting technique used to catch monkeys is done simply with a jar.

Hunters will set a jar out with a hole barely bigger than the monkeys hand.

In the jar they’ll put banana, nuts or something else that a monkey would desire.

The monkey then reaches its hand into the jar, grasps the food, and proceeds to try and pull it out.

There’s one problem…

The monkey clinched fist doesn’t fit the hole in the top of the jar.

And here’s where it gets crazy…

Though the monkey still possesses control, it will refuse to let go of the food…

Therefore it is trapped and captured by the hunters.

The story of this monkey is no different than you or I…

What are you holding on to?

Is it something in your life?

Something in your business?

Because we all have a tendency to hold on to things that have over stayed their welcome.

Tonight I was talking to a friend of mine…

She is a Realtor…a really good Realtor.

She was telling me about her desire to start a new strategy in her business, but that to do so, she has to let something else go.

That “something else” was something that she’s used in her business for 9 years.

She even said that it works…but, and don’t miss this…

She said, BUT…it’s just not me. It’s not who I am.

I want to ask you again…

What are you holding on to?

You are in control. You have your clinched fist in the jar…

You just have to let go of what you’re holding on to.

Take a risk. Make the jump.

Because as long as you do what you’ve always done..you’re going to get what you’ve always got.

Let me offer you to quick pieces of advice…

#1 - Trust yourself.

Whether you believe in God or your gut…trust yourself.

When you are thinking through the decision at hand, believe that you have the ability to make the right one.

No one and I mean no one knows your situation better than you do.

Ask advice, trust the perspectives of others…but at the end of the day, own the decision.

Believe in yourself.

#2 - Go all in.

Whatever new decision this blog causes you to make…go all in!

There is nothing worse than making a decision to do something, but then only giving it 50%.

You already know it’s not going to work.

Remember this…

The right decision done with half the effort will feel like the wrong decision.

Think about this…

How many good decisions are out there that you think are bad decisions?

And it’s only because you didn’t give the effort. You kept holding on to what was instead of embracing what is.

Don’t be like the monkey.

That hand in the jar is yours.

You control the outcome.

You and you alone.

I want to finish this blog like this…

If you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you. I really do!

You are set apart.

You are one of a kind.

You are a masterpiece.

It’s time to live like one!
