You'll Never Do Video If...

In the real estate world, you need every advantage you can get.

There is no greater opportunity to find that advantage than with video.

73% of homeowners say they are more likely to use a Realtor that offers to do a video of their property.

Listings that include a video get up to a 403% more inquiries than those that don’t.

According to Implix, an introductory email that includes a video receives an increase click-through rate of 96%.

I don’t mean to be blunt…but…

When are you going to wake up?!

YouTube videos get over 5 billion views a day.

Over 500 million users on Facebook watch videos every day.

You cannot keep your business where it is for long without adding the use of video!

It will not happen!

Please trust me and stop living in the “old days.”

So, let’s assume for a second that you’re considering the idea of video…

There will be several roadblocks you’ll encounter that will handcuff you if you aren’t careful.

#1 - I don’t think people will care.

Even though you read the statistics above, it’s easy to buy-in to the thought that no one really cares. Because you think no one watches video.

But you’re wrong. People are watching…every single day. Stats even show that half of 75 year olds are watching video. Wake up and join the party. :)

Also, most of us tend to think we are boring. We think no one will want to hear what we have to say.

It’s not true. You think you’re boring, others are interested in what you have to say.

Has another human ever asked for your advice? If yes, people value your opinion.

  • Pro Tip: When you find something you’re passionate about, it doesn’t matter if people care or not. You will do it anyway.

#2 - I’m afraid to mess up.

To compensate for your fear of messing up…you will try to be perfect.

This is why you will record take after take trying to get it just right…

But that is not real life. Your people know how fake this is.

And think about it like this…

We dislike people who think they are perfect, yet that is the exact quality we try to achieve in our videos.

It’s 2019…we aren’t attracted to perfect, we are attracted to personal.

Be real, be you. That is who your people already know, like and trust.

  • Pro Tip: Do you expect perfection from others? Of course not. So they don’t expect it of you. Don’t let their highlight reels discourage you from being you.

#3 - I feel like everyone is already doing it.

Because your newsfeed is full of other Realtors and Loan Officers, it feels like it’s over saturated, but it’s not!

Last year only 4% of Realtors were using videos nationwide…

Think about that…it’s crazy, right?

And here’s what really matters…a lot of that 4% aren’t even good at it.

You have such a massive opportunity to be successful…get in the game! Your business depends on it.

  • Pro Tip: Let’s assume this is true (even though it’s not), this will still work because you are you. No one is doing video like you…you are set apart and different!

#4 - I just don’t think it works.

For many of you that will read this, you genuinely don’t believe in the power of video.

And that’s ok. I understand why.

But let me paint you another picture…

Video is the only form of marketing that works for you while you’re not working.

A couple months back I received my largest speaking gig to date…

How did they find me? They saw my videos.

Every single day while I’m doing whatever I’m doing, my videos are being watched by people all over.

I am constantly leveraging content to position myself in front of the right people.

Not convinced, here’s another story…

One of my clients on her second video picked up the interest of an investor that she then had the opportunity to list dozens of his listings.

What are you waiting for?

But there is one final thought that’s holding you back…

  • Pro Tip: You’re only allowed to think this if this has happened…you have done videos yourself for over 6 months and see no value from it. Until then, you are simply listening to the ignorant opinions of others who also haven’t tried it!

#5 - I don’t know what to talk about.

Stop overthinking this…

The reason you can’t think of anything to talk about is because you can’t get out of the real estate mindset.

Of course you can’t think of anything to say when all you have is real estate on your mind.

The reality is…no one cares about your real estate videos if that’s all you do.

How do I know that? Because nobody wakes up in anticipation of your next market report or home buying tip.

You have to meet people where they are.

What are they interested in?

What do they struggle with?

What did they wake up this morning thinking about?

When you answer those questions, your content creates itself.

Are you attracting young families as buyers?

Apply these questions to them.

With the answers….comes your content!

You are not just a Realtor. You are not just a Loan Officer. You are a real person!

So, be a real person. Talk about real life things.

The moment you begin to remove these five myths from your life, video becomes more and more do-able.

  • Pro Tip: What do you think you do well that most don’t? Do a video about that first. But don’t make it about how awesome you are. Genuinely think through how you can teach what you do. That will attract people like you.
